MORE THAN 400 NEW YORK CITY RESTAURANT, BAR AND TAVERN WORKERS TO CELEBRATE THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE END OF PROHIBATION WITH FREE TIMES SQUARE PARTY

New York State Assemblyman Andrew Raia, Paul Hurley, President of United Restaurant and Tavern Owners Association and The Riese Organization announced today a free party for some 400 New York City bartenders, waitresses, chefs, food servers, bar managers, promoters and DJ's on Monday, December 15th to celebrate the 75 years since the end of prohibition.

The gala from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. in Times Square at 729 7th Avenue in Manhattan is sponsored by the Riese Organization, which owns more than 100 restaurants and bars in the city, including well-known hot spots and family eating places such as: TGI Friday's, Houlihans, Charlie Os, Dunkin Doughnuts, Hawaiian Tropic, Nedicks, Nathans Famous, Martinis, KFC, Tads Steaks, Lindys, Roy Rogers, Shady Jakes and Tequilaville

The Dec. 15th party will resemble a 1920s Roaring 20's speakeasy, with open bar and food menu prepared by world re-known chef David Burke.
Party-goers will dress as flappers, zoot-suiters and in other 1920s outfits. Awards will be given to local television personalities.

This event is the kickoff for the first ever NYC Bartender's Ball (www.nycbartendersball.com), which is taking place next year to assist local charities and not-for- profit organizations such as Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, (FREE) and City Meals on Wheels.

Any member of the hospitality industry attending this complimentary gala must RSVP at info@nycbartendersball.com or call 646-781-9469. The event will bring together workers from nightspots in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan , Staten Island and the Bronx to remember how the end of Prohibition provided legitimate employment for thousands.
