EUROPEAN BIOPLASTICS CONFERENCE/NOVAMONT PRESENTS THE PRODUCTS OF THE INTEGRATED BIOREFINERY

European Bioplastics Conference: Novamont presents the products of the integrated biorefinery

MATER-BI and the innovative building blocks from renewable sources for biopolymers to take centre stage in Berlin on 5-6 November 2015

Novara, 5 November 2015 – Today marks the start of the tenth edition of the annual conference of the European Bioplastics Association, bringing together companies from all across the bioplastics sector, and Novamont will once again play a key  role.

The conference is the leading international event on bioplastics and biomaterials and their various applications, focusing on the sector's market prospects and on the smart solutions which have emerged in recent years.

Novamont will participate in the conference to demonstrate its commitment to the development of biomaterials and bioproducts by creating biorefineries integrated in the local area and promoting a cascading use of local raw materials grown on marginal lands. Today, thanks to ongoing research and the development of highly innovative proprietary technologies, the range of products of the biorefinery includes a series of chemicals made from renewable sources for numerous application sectors, including the biopolymers sector.

"We are proud to be returning to the European Bioplastics Conference to present our products and our circular development model based on the bioeconomy," said Stefano Facco, Novamont's New Business Development Director. "Today MATER-BI is the synthesis of four integrated technologies and the fruit of the strategic partnerships we have created upstream with the agricultural sector and downstream with industry.  Thanks to the development of various bio-monomers we have further increased the renewable raw material content of our biodegradable products, which can be disposed of through organic recycling (composting).

We can also offer materials which can replace various building blocks for the production of polymers, in order to increase their renewable carbon content and thus improve their environmental profile.

The Novamont Group is the world leader in the development and production of materials and biochemicals through the integration of chemistry, the environment and agriculture. With 412 employees, the Group posted sales of €145 million in 2014 and made continuous investments in research and development activities (7.2% of its 2014 turnover) and has a portfolio of around 1,000 patents. The group has its headquarters in Novara, a production facility in Terni and research laboratories in Novara, Terni and Piana di Monte Verna (CE).
