'Resonanz' installation will be opened at Festival of Lights
On October 9th the light and sound installation 'Resonanz' will be opened to the public as part of the Berlin Festival of Lights.
Sound and Light ACT, a collaboration between Arup lighting designer Susheela Sankaram, architect Sophie Valla and spatial acoustician Leonard Roussel, designed the installation, which mixes architecture, light and sound in an immersive environment.
The light and sound installation invites people into the nighttime world of the AufbauHaus courtyard, an innovative new presence on the city's cultural map.
An inner landscape for the building is shaped by projected light on textile surfaces, and choreographed by sounds. The textiles are suspended under bridges, and become three-dimensional shapes, cut in a rythm reminiscent of musical notation.
The light and sound are composed in overlapping sequences that vary in intensity, speed, colour and density.
Arup's lighting and acoustic specialists from Amsterdam and Berlin worked together on the installation, which was sponsored by Aufbau Media, L-Acoustics, Martin, Insta, M1 Cafe, Sophie Valla Architects and Arup.
The Festival of Lights runs from 9 to 20 October in Berlin. 'Resonanz' can be found at AufbauHaus, Prinzenstr. 85, Moritzplatz (Kreuzberg) and is open between 19.00-23.00h.
