BorderBody - Mixing Identities, Italy / Spain "BorderBody Mixing Identities" international art festival of photography, video art, installation and performing art was held in Almeria (Spain), at MECA Mediterráneo Centro Artístico, during the 7 and the 21 of February 2014, and in prestigious Palazzo Barone Ferrara in Bari (Italy), from the 13 to the 21 of February 2014. "BorderBody" exhibitions cycle is conceived as a diffused and nomadic festival in different places of the world. "Mixing Identities", the second chapter of this 3-event cycle, is focused on the hybridization of social identities. In contemporary societies boundaries are getting more and more fleeting, and also the identity, that makes each person or place a recognizable entity, turns out fluid and multiple. Cultural, religious, ethnic borders become changeable too. This change, this mutation has allowed to cross the inside of the identities, creating new possible crossings, new blends. There is no more limit between an identity and the other one but it is possible to walk, to cross a passage and to find oneself halfway through it, in a non-place, in a non-identity. During the festival, both in Spain and Italy, were projected the videos "Defrost" by François Quévillon and "Autoportrait: Con Fuoco" by Martin Messier, presented by Perte de Signal (France). Perte de Signal is a Montreal based art centre that promotes and fosters the development of digital arts and innovative artistic uses of technology. In the exhibition area of Palazzo Barone Ferrara (Italy) it was possible to listen to the sound artworks "Through Your Mouth, I Sing" and "The Piper Pulled Down the Sky" by Paul Amlehn, who has collaborated on music projects with musicians from the bands of Lou Reed, David Bowie, Laurie Anderson, Tom Waits and others, as well as with members of the Kronos Quartet, and Philip Glass Ensemble. "The Piper Pulled Down the Sky" track is from the forthcoming album: "A Walk to the End of the World", a music project with texts and vocals by William S. Burroughs, courtesy of his Estate. The exhibition was reviewed by International press and media; and was visited every day by many International visitors and citizens particularly sensitive to the contemporary art new languages. International ArtExpo would like to acknowledge all the artists for their effort, vision, and passion for contemporary art. .featured artists François Quévillon . Canada | Martin Messier .
