LAN and TAM airline workers to take action this week
· LAN and TAM airline unions will take lawful solidarity action this week in Chile, Colombia and Argentina in support of strikes by LAN Peru mechanics and LAN Argentina flight attendants

This week 23 to 27 June, aviation unions in the ITF LATAM Network in Chile, Argentina, Peru and Colombia will be taking lawful solidarity action to support the mechanics of LAN Peru and the cabin crew of LAN Argentina. The workers will inform passengers in the airports about the actions.
The unions explain that passengers need to know that the demands of the LAN and TAM Airline workers are fair and that the company has the resources to resolve the conflicts. Aviation labour conditions impact the quality of life of workers and potentially the high standards of service on flights.
LAN Peru Mechanics
On June 26th and 27th, a planned strike of the Peruvian mechanics' union (SITALANPE), which represents 70 percent of the workforce, is likely to affect flights in the country and the region. Licensed aviation mechanics are required to certify all aircraft.
LAN Argentina cabin crew
In Argentina, cabin crew have repeatedly suffered delays to their collective rights. Since 2005, when the company began operations in Argentina, LAN has refused to sign a collective agreement to regulate cabin crew working conditions.
LAN Peru union leader reports detention and threats in the Lima Airport.
Juan Carlos Talavera Flores, the press secretary of Peru's SITALANPE union, has reported that he was detained on Friday, 20 June. Talavera is a leader in the international solidarity campaign to protect aviation standards in South America. His detention was made while he was distributing information in Jorge Chavez Airport in Lima and answering questions from passengers about the upcoming industrial actions and strikes in LAN and TAM airlines.
Talavera reported that during his detention he was threatened by a member of security staff at the airport, who introduced himself as being sent by LAN Peru. Talavera explained that this security staff member told him that LAN Peru was going to bring a legal notary to verify his alleged illegal actions.
He added that it was a confusing, frightening and strange action by LAN Peru. He stated that the police and security personnel detained him while he was distributing information to passengers about delays and cancellations which are likely to occur during the upcoming LAN Peru strike of 26 and 27 June.
Talavera added that at the police station he was unfairly searched for drugs and incriminatory evidence. At the jail, he was threatened. Hours later he was released without charge.

Los trabajadores de LAN and TAM se movilizan esta semana
· Sindicatos de LAN y TAM Airlines se movilizan esta semana en Chile, Colombia y Argentina en apoyo a la huelga de los técnicos de mantenimiento peruanos y tripulantes de cabina de Argentina.
· Dirigentes sindicales de LAN Perú informan de una detención y amenazas en aeropuerto de Lima.
La semana del 23 al 27 de junio los sindicatos aeronáuticos de la RED LATAM ITF de Chile, Argentina, Perú y Colombia realizaran acciones legales solidarias en apoyo de la huelga de los técnicos de LAN PERÚ y los tripulantes de cabina de LAN Argentina. Informarán a los pasajeros de las razones de sus reivindicaciones laborales y los efectos de las movilizaciones y huelga el 26 y 27 de junio en aeropuertos.
Los sindicatos han explicado que los pasajeros deben saber que las reivindicaciones de los trabajadores de LAN y TAM Airlines son justas y que la compañía tiene medios para resolver el conflicto. Las condiciones laborales de los trabajadores tienen un impacto directo en su calidad de vida y también en el servicio y seguridad de los vuelos.
Los técnicos de LAN Perú
La huelga planeada los días 26 y 27 de junio por el Sindicato Único de Técnicos Aeronáuticos de LAN Perú (SITALANPE), que representa al 70% de los trabajadores técnicos, se espera que afecte a los vuelos en el país y la región. Su trabajo no es reemplazable, pues son los que certifican los aviones.
El derecho básico de tripulantes de cabina de LAN Argentina
En Argentina, los tripulantes de cabina, han sufrido una y otra vez la postergación de sus derechos colectivos. La empresa se niega a firmar un convenio colectivo que regule sus condiciones laborales desde el 2005, fecha en que inició sus operaciones en Argentina.
Dirigentes de Perú denuncian detención y amenazas en aeropuerto de Lima.
Juan Carlos Talavera, secretario de prensa de SITALANPE, denuncia que el viernes 20 de junio fue detenido y amenazado por personal de seguridad del aeropuerto. Talavera explico que este miembro de seguridad le dijo que LAN Perú iba a traer a un notario para verificar su supuesta acción ilegal.
Confusa, irregular y amedrentadora fue la acción de LAN Perú el viernes 20 por la mañana, al intervenir en la detención de Juan Carlos Talavera. El dirigente de SITALANPE, cuenta que fue detenido por policías y personal de seguridad del aeropuerto al servicio de LAN Perú mientras informaba a los pasajeros sobre las demoras y cancelaciones que probablemente experimentarán durante la próxima huelga de LAN Perú el 26 y 27 de junio.
En la dependencia policial al dirigente le revisaron injustamente para buscar supuestas pruebas incriminatorias y en busca de drogas. En la comisaria fue amenazado. Horas más tarde fue dejado en libertad sin cargos.
Juan Carlos Talavera Flores, lidera la campaña de solidaridad internacional para proteger los estándares de la aviación en Sudamérica y su detención se produjo mientras distribuía información en el aeropuerto Jorge Chávez de Lima y respondía preguntas de los pasajeros sobre las próximas movilizaciones y huelgas en LAN y TAM Airlines.
