LAN and TAM airline union leaders and company representatives to meet with Peru's Ministry of Labour
LAN and TAM airline union leaders from Argentina, Peru and Chile will be meeting in Lima, Peru today, in an effort to convince the company to provide decent working conditions for workers in the LATAM Aviation Group.
A meeting will be held today, 24 June, at Peru's Ministry of Labour with representatives of the company and the leadership of the Peruvian mechanics' union. The purpose of the meeting is to attempt to resolve the unfair labour conditions within the company and prevent the legally-sanctioned strike of LAN Peru that is scheduled to begin on 26 June.
Union leaders from throughout South America will be present at the Ministry of Labour, showing their support. Dina Feller, the international coordinator of the ITF LATAM Network, will be leading the delegation, which will include union leaders from Argentina and Chile.
LAN and TAM airline unions will continue to take lawful solidarity action this week in Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Argentina in support of strikes by LAN Peru mechanics and LAN Argentina flight attendants. Aviation labour conditions have an impact on the quality of life of workers and potentially the high standards of service on flights.
LAN Peru mechanics
On 26 and 27 June, a planned strike of the Peruvian mechanics' union (SITALANPE), which represents 70 percent of the workforce, is likely to affect flights in the country and the region. Licensed aviation mechanics are required to certify all aircraft.
LAN Argentina cabin crew
In Argentina, cabin crew have repeatedly suffered delays to their collective rights. Since 2005, when the company began operations in Argentina, LAN has refused to sign a collective agreement to regulate cabin crew working conditions.

Lideres sindicales y representantes de las aerolíneas LAN y TAM se reúnen con el Ministro de Trabajo de Perú
Hoy 24 de junio, lideres sindicales de LAN y TAM de Argentina, Perú y Chile se reunirán en Lima en un esfuerzo de convencer a la compañía para que promueva unas condiciones de trabajo decentes para los/as trabajadores/as de la aviación del grupo LATAM
La reunión tendrá lugar hoy 24 de junio en el Ministerio de Trabajo de Perú, con representantes de la compañía y los lideres sindicales del sindicato de técnicos de mantenimiento. El objetivo de esta reunión es intentar resolver con la compañía las injustas condiciones laborales, y evitar la huelga declarada legal en LAN Perú que está programada para que comience el 26 de junio.
Lideres sindicales de toda Sudamérica estarán presentes en el Ministerio de Trabajo de Lima para mostrar su apoyo. Dina Feller, coordinadora internacional de la red de ITF de LATAM liderará esta delegación que incluirá dirigentes sindicales de Argentina y Chile.
Los sindicatos de LAN y TAM continuarán con acciones legales solidarias esta semana en Chile, Colombia, Ecuador y Argentina en apoyo de las huelgas de los técnicos de mantenimiento de LAN Perú y de los Tripulantes de Cabina de LAN Argentina. Las condiciones laborales de la aviación impactan directamente en la calidad de vida de los/as trabajadores/as y potencialmente en los elevados estándares del servicio en los vuelos.
Técnicos de Mantenimiento de LAN Perú
El 26 y 27 de junio, está planeada una huelga de del sindicato peruano de mecánicos (SITALANPE), que representa al 70% de los trabajadores, y que afectará con toda probabilidad a los vuelos del país y de la región. La licencia de los mecánicos es necesaria para certificar todos los aviones.
Tripulantes de Cabina de LAN Argentina
En Argentina los tripulantes de han sufrido retrasos continuos de sus derechos colectivos. Desde 2005, cuando la compañía inició sus operaciones en Argentina, LAN ha rechazado firmar un convenio colectivo para regular las condiciones de los Tripulantes de Cabina.
